Candid Chat with Ira Glass November, 18 2009

I caught wind that Ira Glass would be coming to Syracuse seven months before it happened. That day I decided it would be my goal to meet the radio icon. My plan? Start a blog devoted to what I would ask if I had the opportunity to interview Glass during his visit. That research and effort (combined with my general fandom and some networking) resulted in my chance to interview Ira Glass.

Diner Critique: Mother's Cupboard and Fish Fry (Syracuse, N.Y.) April 16, 2009

One of my recent longterm blogging projects is to compile an online index of diners I visit throughout the country. Diners Without Frosted Tips also features links relevant to food popular culture and original columns on a variety of diner and food culture topics. The example post linked here is from one of my favorites - Mother's Cupboard and Fish Fry in Syracuse, N.Y.

Five Signs: You're in the Seinfeld Campus Tour Bus October 15, 2008

I was watching a lot of the Travel Channel when I came up with the recurring column "Five Signs." I'd take a different location, photograph at least five actual signs around the area and let those tell the story of that place. My most read one came when I explored the Seinfeld Campus Tour Bus during its stop at The University of Scranton.

History Can Be Unsatisfying July 23, 2007

I will attribute all interviews I received after graduating (CondeNast, BusinessWeek, the NCAA, etc.) to the fact that The Albuquerque Tribune wanted everyone to relentlessly pursue multimedia work. I needed to record podcasts, film online video and most frequently maintain work on a featured blog. I wrote bi-weekly posts on sports and bi-weekly posts on general life for someone who never traveled west of the Mississippi. This excerpt is from the life blog and it details my first Bob Dylan concert experience.

Even Shaq Goes to Syracuse University for Journalism May 19, 2009

I took a freelance copy-editing position with BleacherReport.com in the summer of 2009 to vary my freelance experience while living in Syracuse. The position was great because the site allows any visitor to post copy. This ensured my copy-editing experiences would be extremely diverse and I'd need a wide variety of skills. The nature of the site also encouraged me to do some writing on the side and this post was one of the featured NBA picks for the day.
